Leducq Foundation Project

Mechanisms matching the brain's vascular energy supply to neural activity and their failure in disease

Calendar & Meetings

In October 2008, six established and internationally recognized neurovascular regulation specialists were awarded the prestigious Leducq Transatlantic Network of Excellence award to study mechanisms matching the brain's vascular energy supply to neural activity, and their failure in disease. The principal investigators in this network have all discovered new aspects of the cellular mechanisms by which cerebral blood flow is regulated, and how blood flow is dysregulated in clinical disorders.

The purpose of this collaboration is to examine mechanisms responsible for aberrations in blood flow response in a variety of brain disorders, and to identify potential strategies for treating disorders of the brain circulation.
